Alex Fergusson (musician)

Alex Fergusson ( born December 16, 1952 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish guitarist and music producer.

Fergusson playing guitar since 1969. In 1973 he first appeared with another guitarist as folk duo live on and took his own songs with a backing band in the studio. In 1976 he founded the group The Bold Bucks, with whom he also receives studio recording. He leaves together with a fellow musician Scotland in early 1977. The separate ways and Fergusson founded together with Mark Perry the Punk band Alternative TV, the sample temporarily in the studio of Throbbing Gristle (TG ). After a short time Fergusson increases with Alternative TV again, writes his own pieces and temporarily worked with Chris Carter of TG together. TG, there are also the Fergusson in 1978 to collaborate on a film by Fred & Judy Vermorel bring the music to a film contract in Los Angeles followed. At the same time he formed in 1981 with members of the Cash Pussies a brief edition of Alternative TV, who, however, was not a success.

In 1981 he founded with Genesis P -Orridge, the industrial band Psychic TV and writes most of whose pieces up to his departure in 1987. Fergusson shaped the sound of the band in this era enormous and the stress field of Industrial sounds of Orridge and Christopherson one hand, and Fergusson's ballad-like compositions on the other hand contributed much to the popularity of former studio albums. He also wrote the entire live repertoire of the band, which significantly differed from the studio albums. Fergusson was with Psychic TV on several tours in the UK, Germany, Scandinavia and the U.S., most recently on a world tour in 1986 and can be heard on at least 20 albums of the band.

Even after his departure he has worked sporadically even earlier at individual concerts or side projects the band members of Alternative TV as well as Psychic TV: In 1990, he played with Psychic TV on the Reading Festival in 1991 he produced with Genesis P -Orridge an album of Popguns, 1994 and in 1995 he graduated from live performances with alternative TV and 1999 but repeatedly guest performance at the farewell concert " Time's up " by Psychic TV.

As a music producer Fergusson has initially look after the Gaye Bykers on Acid after time in Psychic TV. In 1993 he published an untitled solo LP, followed in 1996 the album Perverse Ballads, 2001 The Essence and 2006 The Castle.

Fergusson spent the past few years several times with Rose McDowall ( Strawberry Switchblade - ex ), with whom he was also seen at the Wave -Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig in 2002.
