Alexander Kummant

Alexander K. Kummant (born 1962 ) is an American manager. He was from September 2006 to November 2008 President and CEO of the state railway company Amtrak.

Life

At 18, Alexander Kummant worked for the Lake Terminal Railroad at the U.S. Steel works in Lorain (Ohio ) in a track construction brigade.

At Case Western Reserve University in 1982 he laid the Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. Then he began to work as an engineer for the Standard Oil Company. In 1986 he received his doctorate at Carnegie Mellon University for Master in Manufacturing Engineering and then worked for the Carnegie Group Inc. After his master's degree in business administration from Stanford University in 1990, he joined the Timken Company and was a senior analyst in the steel department.

In 1992 he went to Emerson Electric. After working on various points, he was from 1996 to 1998 president of the department SWECO. 1998-1999 worked Kummant as president of the department and Lightnin Filtran at SPX Corporation.

He then transferred to the Union Pacific Railroad and served as vice president and general manager in the industrial products. From 2001 to 2002 he was Vice President of Operations and Premium responsible for intermodal transport and the distribution network of automotive companies. 2002-2003 worked Kummant as Regional Vice President and was responsible for the Central region with 12,875 km track and 6,000 employees.

2004 Kummant was President of the American subsidiary of the German car manufacturer BOMAG and 2005, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at the office of the Japanese engineering group Komatsu. Subsequently he worked in 2006 at Invensys Controls as vice president and general manager. September 12, 2006, he moved to Amtrak and became President and CEO. During his tenure, he checked all the accounts with the unions and signed new agreements. On 14 November 2008 he resigned from this post after the differences between Kummant and the Supervisory Board were unbridgeable.

Alexander Kummant is married to a manager of the railway industry.
