Alexander Military Law Academy

The Military Academy of Law Saint Petersburg ( Russian Александровская военно - юридическая академия / Alexandrovskaya Voyenno - juriditscheskaja akademija ) was an academy of legal education mainly for officers of the Russian army and navy.

The Academy was founded in 1867 in Saint Petersburg and was at other military facilities on the banks of the Moika Canal. In 1908 the Academy was renamed after its founder, Tsar Alexander II in Military Law Alexander Academy.

In 1878, during the Russo- Turkish War, an education reform to higher education action was taken in a three-year study in three courses. Since 1880 also officers from Serbia and Bulgaria were admitted to the program.

Until 1882, a certain number of officers were added to the study.

At this time, this academy was unique in the world. The curriculum included the disciplines of law faculties in the universities and has been extended by the doctrine of the military laws of Russia and other countries.

Recording

The admission to the Academy was preceded by a rigorous examination. With an annual number of eighty Aufnahmeprüflingen only fifteen were taken. At the Academy taught the best professors of Russia in their fields. Graduates clothed et al the career of military defense and military prosecutors.

Overall, until the dissolution of the Academy in December 1917 about a thousand students were trained.
