Alexander Panzhinskiy

Alexander Eduardovich Panschinski (Russian Александр Эдуардович Панжинский; born March 16, 1989 in Khabarovsk ) is a Russian cross country skier who specializes in sprint competitions.

Sporting career

After good results at youth level Panschinski launched for the first time in the 2007/ 08 season in Eastern Europe Cup, where he was able to regularly qualify for the finals. In 2009 he took part in the Junior World Championship in Le Praz -de- Lys Sommand, where he was able to prevail in the sprint final against all opponents and won the gold medal. This allowed him to start at the World Cup sprint in Trondheim, Norway. Surprisingly, he clearly qualified for the quarter- finals, finishing in 17th place. Thus it is one of the few cross-country skiers to have won on their first use in the most important cross-country racing series World Cup points. Right at the beginning of the 2009/10 season showed Panschinski also in Kuusamo his potential, as he reached the semi-finals and there ersprintete tenth.
