2009–10 FIS Cross-Country World Cup

The Cross Country World Cup 2009/10 is an event organized by the FIS competition series, which began on 21 November, 2009 Beitostølen and ends in Falun on 21 March 2010. The highlight of the season are the XXI. Olympic Winter Games from 12 to 28 February 2010 in Vancouver, where the cross-country competitions in Whistler Olympic Park will be played.

For the fourth time the Tour de Ski will be held within the framework of the World Cup, a stage race, for it instead of the usual 100 World Cup points are in case of victory 400. In addition, for the third time will be held the World Cup Final, also a stage race, the winner receives 200 points.

Rule Changes

After were granted in the 2008/ 09 season with the mass start competitions in Trondheim World Cup bonus points for intermediate points, this special scoring the World Cup rules was included in the 2009/10 season officially. For all mass start competitions up to five intermediate scores will be discharged depending on the distance of the competition in which the first three athletes / athletes get awarded 15, 10 and 5 additional World Cup points.

As a further modification to host the B- finals of the Sprint competitions has been deleted. The rankings are seven to twelve are awarded thus dependent on time / placement in the Halfinalläufen.
