2007–08 FIS Cross-Country World Cup

The Cross Country World Cup 2007/ 08 began on 27 October 2007 in Dusseldorf and ended on March 16, 2008 in Bormio. For the first time this season, the World Cup final, a stage race like the Tour de Ski discharged.

The overall victory in the men went with a clear lead of over 600 points on the Czechs Lukáš Bauer. Bauer has become the first overall World Cup champion in his home country. He dominated in particular the Tour de Ski 2007/2008 with three stage wins, so that he could decide the overall ranking for itself with just under three minutes ahead. During the season, he secured four more World Cup success. The battle for second place in the World Cup overall rating was decided in the last race of the season. The German René Sommerfeldt secured the second place ahead of the Italian Pietro Piller Cottrer distance specialists. The victory in the evaluation of all distance competitions also went to Lukas Bauer before Pietro Piller Cottrer and René Sommerfeldt. In the ranking of the Spintwettbewerbe the first time won the Norwegian Ola Vigen Hattestad. He won by a margin of only two points ahead of Sweden's Emil Jönsson. The third place in this ranking was to Hattestads Norwegian compatriot John Kristian Dahl.

From the middle of the season, the women's competitions were dominated by the Finn Virpi Kuitunen. Kuitunen won five races and cross-country skiing World Cup Final 2007/2008 and secured the second place in the Tour de Ski. The second place in the World Cup overall went to Norway's Astrid Jacobsen off the Polish athlete Justyna Kowalczyk. Kuitunen won further the Rating Distance competitions before the Ukrainian Walentyna Shevchenko and Justyna Kowalczyk. The small crystal ball for the victory in the rating of the Sprint competitions secured for the first time in her career the Slovenian Petra Majdič before Astrid Jacobsen and Virpi Kuitunen. Majdič, who won three World Cup races for themselves, so that is the first Slovenian athlete who won a total score in the Cross Country World Cup in itself.

The victory in the national rankings dropped significantly with over 5000 points ahead of Norway before the Finnish and German team. The ladies' competition was won by Norway competitions ahead of Finland and Germany. Also in the men the victory went to the Norwegian athletes. The second place went to Italy to Germany.
