Alexis Damour

Augustin Alexis Damour ( born July 19, 1808 in Paris, † September 22, 1902 ) was a French mineralogist.

He first worked in the State Department, where he rose to undersecretary and 1854, took his leave at the mineralogy research to dedicate. His first mineral analyzes were published in 1837. He now undertook research trips to Central America and the West Indies, which he reported in 1860.

In 1862 he became a corresponding member of the Paris Academy, 1878 Member it French Institute and in 1881 on the recommendation of KOBELL member of the Royal Bavarian Academy of Sciences.

Shortly after his death Damours personal mineral collection was sold to the " Rheinische Minerals Trade" by Dr. F. Krantz.

1845 Achilles Delesse described a variety of the muscovite, which he called after him as Damourit.
