Alfred Wotquenne

Alfred Wotquenne ( born January 25, 1867 in Lobbes, Belgium, † September 25, 1939 in Antibes, France) was a Belgian librarian and musicologist.

Wotquenne studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels at Louis Brassin (piano), Alphonse Mailly (organ), Dupont and François -Auguste Gevaert (theory).

In 1894 he was appointed librarian of the Conservatoire and knew this place until 1918. He published bibliographies of the works of Baldassare Galuppi (1900 ), Christoph Willibald Gluck ( 1905), Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach ( 1906) and Luigi Rossi ( 1909). Since the publication of the Wotquenne directory C. P. E. Bach's works by the abbreviation Wq and a following number are known.

In 1921 Wotquenne to Antibes on the Côte d' Azur, where he worked as a choir director and organ teacher and died in 1939.
