Alfredo Perl

Alfredo Perl ( born in 1965 in Santiago de Chile) is a Chilean pianist of international stature.

Biography

His started in Santiago de Chile with Carlos Botto training set Alfredo Perl at the Cologne Music Academy continued with Günter Ludwig and Maria Curcio in London at. As a prize winner of several major piano competitions - he won the first prize at the International Piano Competition in Montevideo and took, among other things successfully participated in the Busoni Competition in Bolzano and Vienna Beethoven Competition - he played soon in the ranks of the most important pianists of his generation.

1996-1997 he performed the complete piano sonatas of Ludwig van Beethoven in London ( Wigmore Hall ), Santiago de Chile and Moscow. At the same time he played the 32 sonatas and the Diabelli Variations for the label Arte Nova (BMG ) in cooperation with Radio Bremen. Concerts as recordings met with very positive response. So wrote the music critic Joachim Kaiser: " [ ... ] with great unabgenutzter freshness, with extreme tenderness and unaffektierter brilliance he demonstrated comforting as little satisfied the tradition and Beethoven sensed the game ends even in our prosaic times."

Other recordings for the same label were three CDs of piano music by Liszt, Brahms Sonatas with clarinetist Ralph Manno, Beethoven Sonatas with cellist Guido Leaning and piano concertos by Grieg and Szymanowski ( the Symphony No. 4, also called " Sinfonia concertante " ). This was followed by recordings for the label Oehms classics, including Beethoven Sonatas with violinist Benjamin Schmid and piano concertos by Liszt. In March 2010 a double CD was released by Celestial Harmonies with the three late Schubert sonatas.

Perl played in concert halls such as the Musikverein (Vienna), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam ) and the Teatro Colón ( Buenos Aires ), appeared at prestigious festivals such as the Rheingau Music Festival, the Schleswig -Holstein Music Festival, the Schwetzingen Festival, the International Music Festival on in Bath and the London Proms, and has performed with numerous renowned orchestras, including the Gewandhaus Orchestra ( Leipzig), the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the London Symphony Orchestra. Since 2007 he is professor of piano at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, since 2009, artistic director of the Detmold Chamber Orchestra.
