Ali Mohammad Besharati

Ali Mohammad Besharati (Persian علی محمد بشارتی جهرمی; * 1945 in Dschahrom ) is an Iranian politician. He was Interior Minister and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Iran.

Life

Besharati studied medicine and was under the Shah five years in prison. After the Islamic revolution in 1979 Besharati became a member of Parliament. Besharati also served as an adviser to the president Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani.

From 1993 to 1997 Besharati was Home Secretary. Its main task was to organize the electoral process. Besharati Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appointed governor. Then Besharati worked in a center for Strategic Studies.
