The name of this town according to historians nothing to do with Germany but rather with the Latin ara magna (large altar [ in the sense of level ] ) or the Gallic goddess of fertility Alemona see tun.Manche in the name, however, a former colony of the Alemanni mirrored, which is significantly more credible, since this area was conquered by the Goths deduction of a Franken- Alemanni Union and slammed the Alemanni princes, before it was finally incorporated into the Frankish kingdom. The keep of the castle dates from the 12th century. The castle of the 13th century belonged to the Lords of Castellane and was rebuilt in the 16th century into a Renaissance castle with several floors. In the second half of the 18th century, the production of faience collection held. This type of ceramic was produced until 1820.
