Alois Lipburger

Alois Lipburger ( born August 27, 1956 in Andelsbuch, Vorarlberg, † February 4, 2001 in Füssen) was an Austrian ski jumper, teacher and ski coach.

Career

As an active ski jumper, he celebrated his biggest success by winning the silver medal at the World Championships 1978 in Lahti. At various ski big events he reached a total of twelve top ten finishes. During his training as a ski jumper in Stams he was a member of the then Stamser young jumpers group to Karl Schnabl, Toni Innauer, Willi Pürstl, Rupert Gürtler and Alfred Pungg and then a member of the Austrian Ski miracle team of the 70s, the Professor Baldur Preiml formed.

Alois Lipburger studied after school teacher training sports and philosophy at the University of Innsbruck and graduated with a Master's from. Following his career and his studies, he returned as a teacher and coach to the Skigymnasium back in Stams.

Alois Lipburger coached the German national team of the Nordic combiners and built 1985/86, the French ski team. He then worked as a ski instructor in the School Stams. In 1999, he took over the function of the national coach of the Austrian ski jumper.

On the way back from the World Cup competition in Willingen the car of Martin Höllwarth came with the passengers Lipburger and Andreas Widhölzl on a country road near Füssen out of control and rolled over several times. Lipburger died, the other two occupants escaped with light injuries.

Personal

  • Anton Innauer, Alois Lipburgers best friend told, 2005 - on the occasion of HRM symposium in the Town Hall in Andel book - as Lipburger cheated out of the world title and taunted with Silver: " The event was typical of him: Liss (nickname of Alois Lipburger ), the judges, the has happened this error, sorry for him. Others would probably raged like a madman! " All colleagues were flabbergasted, especially Innauer: " He was just harder to himself than to others."
