The 30 Timor- Alor - pantar languages ( TAP ) form a language family of Papua languages. They are spoken in the Lesser Sunda Islands Timor, Alor, pantar, Kisar and Liran. The most commonly spoken languages in the language family are Makasae and Bunak, each with about 100,000 speakers.
Classification
The Timor- Alor - pantar languages belong to the Trans - New Guinea languages.
The language family is divided into at least two subgroups: Timor- Kisar ( even Timor) and Alor - pantar - Makasai. Ethnologue lists a further subgroup Tanglapui.
