Aloysius Balina

Aloysius Balina ( born June 21, 1945 in Isoso, Tanganyika, † November 6, 2012 in Mwanza, Tanzania) was Bishop of Shinyanga.

Life

Aloysius Balina received on 27 June 1971, the sacrament of Holy Orders for the Diocese of Shinyanga. He was a priest from 1971 to 1975 in Buhangija, City Shinyanga, Salawe, Bugisi, Chamgasa and Malili. From 1975 to 1983 he was rector of St. Pius Seminary in Makoko in Tanzania and 1983/84 pastors of the city Shinyanga.

On November 8, 1984, Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of Geita. John Paul II donated it on 6 January 1985, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Archbishops Eduardo Martínez Somalo Curia, ex officio proceedings in the Vatican Secretariat of State, and Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy, secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. According to him, Aloysius Balina School was named in Geita.

On August 8, 1997, John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Shinyanga. He was also to 2000 Administrator of Geita.

He was founder and first chairman of the Christian Social Services Commission ( CSSC ). He was until his death chairman of the TEC Health Department (since 1985 ), Chairman of Bugando Medical Centre ( since 1985 ), Chairman of Bugando College of Health Science (since 2000), Commissioner for TACAIDS (2002/ 04) and chairman of the advisory and Development Limited ( CdCO ) (since 2005).
