Alpine skiing at the 1936 Winter Olympics

In the IV Olympic Winter Games in 1936 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen first competitions were in alpine skiing on the program. The decision to admit met the International Ski Federation (FIS ) on its congress on 25 February 1934 in Swedish Sollefteå. About the final inclusion in the Olympic program then decided the International Olympic Committee during its 32nd session in May 1934 in Athens.

In a departure from the World Ski Championships medals program only for a combined rating of downhill and slalom should be awarded at the Olympics, as it was organized as part of the Arlberg - Kandahar race since 1928.
