Altafulla

Altafulla is a coastal town in the Spanish autonomous region of Catalonia, about ten kilometers north of Tarragona. The population was on 1 January 2013 4928th

Economy

The largest industry of the town is tourism, although Altafulla so far remained untouched by mass tourism. The beach was repeatedly heaped up and widened in recent years and is considered one of the cleanest in the whole of Spain.

Altafulla has a railway connection and is also on the nearby airport of Reus and about the Barcelona International Airport easy to reach.

Attractions

The medieval town center ( Vila Closa ) is enclosed by a wall partially preserved. In the village is a large, partly inhabited castle. Excavations with remains of buildings of the Roman villa rustica Els Munts are housed mainly in the Archaeological Museum of Tarragona. The village center is a listed building.

Culture

Patron saint of the village is Sant Martí ( November 11).
