Alutiiq (also Sugpiaq or Sugcestun ) is the name of a language that is the language Yupik similar and is in the region around Bethel in southwest Alaska, spoken. It is also the name of the indigenous tribe of the Alutiiq in Alaska. We distinguish between two dialects: the Koniag dialect is spoken on the Alaska Peninsula and Kodiak Island, the Chugach dialect, is spoken on the other hand, the Kenai Peninsula and the Prince William Sound. Currently trying the 3000 Alutiiqs to speak their language again increased, to protect them from extinction. Alutiiq is currently spoken by about 400 people.
