Älvkarleby Municipality

Älvkarleby is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Uppsala County and the historic province of Uppland. The main town of the municipality is Skutskär.

Geography

Through the village, the river Dalalven finally in the main town Skutskär in the Gulf of Bothnia ( Baltic Sea ) opens flows.

History

Due to the postglacial land uplift, the area of ​​the municipality has risen slowly from the water after the last ice age. Dating from around 1000 BC also date the earliest evidence of settlements. Traditionally, the life of the people has been shaped by fishing.
