Amadeus August

Amadeus August ( born May 6, 1942 in Breslau, † July 6, 1992 in Munich) was a German actor.

He devoted himself after high school a voice studies at the University of Tübingen and was educated at the drama school in Bochum. At the State Theatre Hanover, he had his first engagement, then Amadeus August played at the little comedy Munich, at the Renaissance Theater in Berlin at the Theater am Dom in Cologne, the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna, at the Schauspielhaus (Vienna) and at the Festival Heppenheim, where in 1985 he took over the title role in Goethe's Faust.

On television, he starred in, among other various crime series such as Crime Scene, The Old Man and Derrick. The Barbara Hutton Story, he embodied the Duke Kurt Hardenberg Reventlow, the father of Lance Reventlow.

He had in 1971 in the ZDF TV series Quentin Durward, his greatest success. In the adventure stories by Walter Scott, he played the swashbuckling title character, a role that made ​​him in the FR of Germany overnight a crowd favorite. In 1972 he was awarded the bronze Bravo Otto in the category Male TV Star, a success, to which he was not able. His good looks also allowed him to various photo shoots in the BRAVO.

He died of AIDS. His tomb is located in the cemetery in Unterhaching.
