Amalia de la Vega

Amalia Fernández de la Vega, Celia María Martínez Fernández real name, ( born January 19, 1919 in Melo; † August 25, 2000 in Montevideo) was an Uruguayan singer.

Creole singer, were among their repertoire milongas and various folkloric rhythms, published more than a hundred songs and dozens of albums on the label Sondor, Antar, Orfeo and Telefunken. She took a significant role in the context of the Rio de la Plata music. Your final resting place she found in the cemetery of Buceo in Montevideo, the city in which she spent most of her life. In the Parque de la Hispanidad remembers the Festival de Durazno (Festival Internacional de Folklore ) a bust of her.
