Amanda Sobhy

Amanda Sobhy (born 29 June 1993 New York) is an American squash player.

Career

Sobhy succeeded in 2010 already the big break after she ever won three tournaments in the professional circuit before reaching their 17th birthday as the first player. After their victories in Philadelphia, Delaware and St. Louis Sobhy was able to extend their record to another tournament success in New England on four titles. In the Under-19 Junior World Championship 2010 in Cologne Sobhy succeeded on the day of their 17th anniversary of the first time winning a world championship by a squash player from the United States. In the final, she defeated the Egyptian Nour El Tayeb 3-1.

In the world rankings Sobhy has moved within two years from outside the top 100 into the top 20. Their highest placing in the world rankings, it reached position 15 in April 2014. 2012 she won the first time the U.S. championship against Natalie Grainger.

Private

She is the daughter of former Egyptian international's Khaled Sobhy, who also acts as her coach. In 2012 she began studying at Harvard College.
