Ambarri

The Ambarrer (Latin Ambarri ) were a Celtic tribe, was the settlement area on both sides of the Arar ( Saône ), as the original name * Ambi- Arari ( " at both sides of the Arar living ends " ) shows (see also Souconna ). Their immediate neighbors were the Aedui and the Allobrogians.

In Livy (Ab urbe condita libri CXLII, V, 34) is to be read that the Bituriges King Ambicatus due to imminent overpopulation of Gaul and his nephews Bellovesus Segovesus sent out with a part of the tribe, to conquer new Wohngebierte.
