Ambroz Haračić

Ambroz Haračić ( born December 5, 1855 in Mali Lošinj, † October 1, 1916 ) was a botanist on Lošinj ( today Croatia). His botanical author abbreviation is " Haračić ".

Life

After studying mathematics and science in Vienna, he taught at the Maritime School in Mali Lošinj, where he in 1879 founded a meteorological station. In Mali Lošinj as well as the neighboring smaller islands ( Ilovik, Susak, Unije Srakane, Murter and Oruda ), he carried out measurements, studies of the vegetation or the planting of forests. In consequence of Mali Lošinj in 1892 declared a health resort, and tourism became an important economic factor in the region.
