The Ameisnockenkopf is a 1925 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Berchtesgaden Alps southwest of the Reiter Alm, on the border between Austria and Germany. He is from the northeast adjacent Stadelhorn ( 2286 m) separated by the Hochgscheidsattel. About the Ameisnockenkopf A ridge to the southwest via the glad Horn (1908 m) and the Leimbichlhorn (1866 m) to the brawn Stone ( 1694 m).

The lower slope areas are occupied by extensive snow heath pine forests. These are alternated with increasing height of subalpine spruce - larch forests. In the shallower areas of the cliffs mountain pine forests are developed. The summit ridge is largely free of vegetation. From Ameisnockenkopf into vistas found on the Lofer and Leogang Mountains in the west, the Reiteralm in the north, and the massifs of hochkalter and watzmann in the southeast.

The Osthangbereiche already belong to the National Park Berchtesgaden. The western slopes are protected on the Austrian side as a nature reserve.
