Amit Kumar (wrestler)

Amit Kumar Dahiya (born 15 December 1993 Nahri, District Sonipat, Haryana, India) is an Indian wrestler. He became in 2013 Vice World Champion in free style bantamweight

Career

At the age of seven years, Amit Dahiya was turned to his elementary school so that sent him to his teacher at a school in Ringer Chhatrasal Stadium Achara in Hansrajji. There he developed very fast and good. Satpal Singh, a famous Indian wrestler trainer, took him then to be a training center for wrestlers in New Delhi. From 2003 to 2010 he won at the national level, a number of championship titles at youth level in free style.

In 2011 he was in Jakarta Asian Junior Champion (Junior) in Bantamweight. In the same year he also took part in the World Youth Championship ( Juniors), but lost his first fight against Bechbayar Erdenebat from Mongolia, which he retired and only came on the 22th Place.

In the spring of 2012, he first participated in a longer training camp in Traingszentrum the U.S. Ringer Association in Colorado Springs. He started 2012 also in " Dave Schultz " Memorial in Colorado Springs and won there bantamweight before Brandon Precin, USA and Mamoru Honda, Japan. In March 2012, he won a bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Gumi / South Korea behind Hassan Rahimi, Iran and Yasuhiro Inaba, Japan, bantamweight. He qualified then a few weeks later at the Asian Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Astana with a win in front of Shinichi Yumoto, Japan, Tsogtbaatar Damdinbasar, Mongolia and Hong Xiaobin, China, to participate in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. In London, he succeeded in his first fight, a victory over Hassan Rahimi ( 2-1 rounds, 2-2 points). But then he lost in the quarterfinals against Vladimir Chintschegaschwili, Georgia, just on points and then in the consolation round against the former world champion Radoslaw Welikow Marinov from Bulgaria and so finished 10th.

In April 2013 were Amit Kumar in New Delhi Asian champion bantamweight before Yang Kyong -il, North Korea, Rasul Kaliew, Kazakhstan and Nomin Batbold, Mongolia. In September 2013, then at the World Championships in Budapest celebrated the greatest success yet in his career still so young wrestlers. He defeated in Budapest Yasuhiro Inaba, El Zoheir Quarragge, France, Angel Escobedo, USA and Sezer Akgül, Turkey. In the final he had against Hassan Rahimi a concise point defeat (0-2 rounds, 1:2 points) accept and thus became vice - world champion.
