Ana Moura

Ana Moura ( born 1979 in Santarém ) is a fado singer from Portugal.

Life

She became internationally known in 2003 by the publication of her album Guarda - me a Vida na Mão (German: Preserve my life in your hand), having previously sung in different Fadolokalen in Lisbon. Her breakthrough reached in 2005, when she in the Portuguese television broadcast Fado de Portugal had their first appearance together with the musician António Pinto Basto.

The album was released in 2007 Para Além da Saudade (German: Beyond the longing ) contains the fado Os Búzios ( Eng.: The mussels ) and O Fado da Procura ( Eng.: The Fado of the search). This album was awarded a platinum record in Portugal for at least 20,000 copies sold.

At the international music stage Ana Moura became known as the XXI along with the Rolling Stones at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon and in 2007 appeared with Mick Jagger sang the song No Expectations. Even with the two albums of tribute project The Rolling Stones Project, where international musicians from different directions with Rolling Stones musicians whose songs reinterpreted, she participated with two titles.

Prince, an avowed fan of fado, she visited in July 2009 in Lisbon and invited them to his local concert as a guest singer on the stage. He also suggested that a musical collaboration, however, due to both their contractual commitments at various record companies that was previously not possible.

In September 2010, she performed with the hr -Bigband on in St. Wendel and Darmstadt. In the same year she received the Globo de Ouro in Portugal as the best singer.

2012, her album Desfado (English about: Non- Fado ), which expanded the borders of Fado. Larry Klein, a supporter Ana Moura was for some time, produced this album. It was recorded in the historic Henson Studios in Los Angeles with their Portuguese musicians, but also with guest musicians like Herbie Hancock, Tim Ries, Ângelo Freire, David Piltch, Dean Parks and Jay Bellerose. The Fado atypical instrumentation produced a jazz -like sound, which nonetheless remained connected by the Portuguese guitar and singing the fado. Were set to music while texts, some of which were his own compositions Ana Moura, partly Fado Fado classics and of Portuguese cinema as well as contributions from other authors, including Pedro Abrunhosa, Miguel Araújo and Aldina Duarte. Also, a cover version of A Case of You by Joni Mitchell is among the 17 tracks on the album. It reached number one on the Portuguese charts.
