Anatoly Pisarenko

Anatoly Hryhorowytsch Pysarenko (Ukrainian Анатолій Григорович Писаренко, Russian Анатолий Григорьевич Писаренко; born January 10, 1958 in Kiev) was a weightlifter of the USSR. He has trained in Kiev.

Sports career

During his career as a weightlifter Pysarenko was three -time world champion, four times European champion and provided a total of 15 world records. However, an Olympic medal, he could never win. In 1980, he was not nominated for the team because he was too young and in 1984 the Soviet Union boycotted the games. Also in 1984 Pysarenko was arrested along with Alexander Kurlovich at the airport in Montreal for possession of anabolic steroids and sentenced to a fine. Both were first occupied by a lifetime competition ban, but it has been shortened to 3 years. Pysarenko was with only 125 kg of body weight one of the lightest Superschwergewichtler his time.

After sports

After his playing days Pysarenko was president of the Ukrainian weightlifter Association and is currently active in the oil business.
