Anderson is a city in Denali Borough in Alaska in the United States.

Geography

Anderson is located on the George Parks Highway 76 miles southwest of Fairbanks and 285 miles north of Anchorage. In the urban area, the Clear Air Force Station, a military airfield of the U.S. Air Force is located. Anderson has a cold continental climate with maritime influences in the summer.

History

The city was named after Arthur Anderson, who was one of the settlers who settled in the area in the late 1950s. 1961 a school was taken in the field in operation. 1962 Anderson was incorporated as a city. Between Anderson and Nenana, a road was built that allowed easy access around Fairbanks. 1968 a 6 million -US-dollar the Nenana River spanning steel bridge was completed. 1971 was ensured by the construction of the George Parks Highway, the road access to Anchorage.

Economy and infrastructure

Anderson is mainly inhabited by workers in the Clear Air Force Station and their families. A popular tourist area is the Riverside Park with camping facilities and other tourist facilities. In the city there is a school that is currently attended by 43 students. Medical care is also provided by the Anderson Health Clinic and hospitals in Fairbanks. The Alaska Railroad has a stop in Anderson. For air transport, a public airstrip is four miles south of the city of Clearwater Airport available.
