Andilly (Meurthe-et-Moselle)

Andilly is a commune of 287 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Toul and Canton Domèvre -en- Haye. The municipality is located in the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine.

Geography

Andilly is located on Terrouin, about ten kilometers north of Toul and 23 kilometers northwest of Nancy at an altitude 213-254 m above sea level. The municipality covers 7.12 km ².

Neighboring municipalities are Menil -la-Tour, Manoncourt -en- Woëvre, Franche Ville, Royaumeix and Bourvron.

Culture and sights

In Andilly the largest German military cemetery of World War II is in France: 33.108 German soldiers are buried there. Here lie Fallen from the area west of Metz and from the departments of Nièvre, Saône -et -Loire, Côte- d'Or, Haute- Marne, Jura, Doubs, Haute- Saone, Vosges, Territoire -de- Belfort, Meuse and Meurthe -et -Moselle. Their tombs are open to the public since 1962.
