André Jaunet

André Jaunet ( born May 17, 1911 in Corné, † 13 December 1988, Zurich ) was a living in Switzerland, French flutist and music teacher.

Life

Jaunet studied from 1924 to 1927 flute with Etienne Moncelet in Angers and from 1927 to 1929 with Marcel Moyse in Paris and from 1929 to 1931 with Philippe Gaubert at the Conservatoire de Paris. In 1931, he won a first prize at the Paris Conservatory.

After that, he was principal flutist at the Opéra de Lille, the city orchestra Winterthur and the Bern Symphony Orchestra. From 1938 to 1978 he was then solo flutist with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. In 1939 he was at the Concours de Genève successfully. He taught from 1938 to 1981 at the Zurich School of Music and in courses, most recently in Thun. 1962 awarded him the city of Zurich Hans- Georg Naegeli Medal. In 1966 he became Chevalier de la Légion d' Honneur. In 1973 he was a visiting professor at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg and 1977 at the University of Toronto. Among his pupils were, inter alia, Robert Aitken, Pierre -André Bovey, Peter -Lukas Graf, Aurèle Nicolet, Emmanuel Pahud and Dieter Flury.

He has published, among others How to Master practice (with small vinyl record ).
