André Vandeweyer

André Vandeweyer, Netherlands - Belgium, March 11, 1934

André Vandeweyer ( born June 21, 1909 in Tienen, † October 22, 1992 ) was a Belgian football goalkeeper.

Career

Association

Vandeweyer was 1931-1939 active Royale Union Saint -Gilloise. He completed 185 games for his club and belonged to the legendary Union 60, 1935 remained unbeaten in 60 consecutive league matches of the First Division between January 1933 and February. During this period he won with his club three times in a row, the Belgian championship. From 1941 to 1945 he played for the RFC Hannutois and let his career in 1946 at the RSC Wasmes finish.

National

1933 and 1934 came Vandeweyer five times in the Belgian national team used. He was nominated for the Belgian squad at the World Cup in 1934 and stood in the 2:5 defeat in the second-round match against Germany in the gate. In the World Cup 1938 he was re-appointed to the squad, but not used.

Coach

After the end of his career as a player in 1947, he took over as coach in his parent club Royale Union Saint -Gilloise, which he held until 1959. From January 1955 to June 1957 he was also head coach of the Belgian national team.
