Andrew Arbuckle

Andrew Arbuckle ( born April 12, 1944 in the region of Fife ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Liberal Democrats.

Life

Arbuckle attended Bell Baxter High School and Elmwood College in Cupar, where he earned a degree in agricultural sciences. He then led a farm in eastern Fife near Newburgh. Arbuckle was president of the Scottish National Farmers' Union.

Political career

1986 Arbuckle first appeared on the political level in appearance than he was elected to the Regional Council of Fife. This he was a member until the 2000s. In the first Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 Arbuckle first appeared on to national elections. However, he applied not to the direct mandate of a constituency but was placed behind Keith Raffan on the second rank of the Regional Evaluation of the Liberal Democrats for the election Region Mid Scotland and Fife. Since the party was able to win only a list of mandate in this constituency in these elections, Arbuckle failed to reach the newly created Scottish Parliament. Also in the following parliamentary elections 2003 parliamentary elections he won no mandate under the same conditions. As Raffan but his mandate in 2005 returned at the beginning of the year for health reasons, Arbuckle slipped as next placed on the list of candidates after the first time and moved into the Scottish Parliament. Here, he was the first deputy who was sworn in the new Parliament building. 2007 was Arbuckle a further time on the second place in the regional election list. However, since the Liberal Democrats failed to win any list seats for Mid Scotland and Fife, he resigned from the Parliament.
