Keith Raffan

Keith Raffan (* 1949 in Aberdeen) is a Scottish politician and member of the Liberal Democrats. He studied at the Universities of Aberdeen and Cambridge and a doctorate.

House of Commons

Raffan was initially a member of the Conservative Party and first appeared at the general election in October 1974 for the constituency of East Aberdeenshire on, but only reached the second highest number of votes behind the SNP candidate, Douglas Henderson. His next nomination was held as part of the general election in 1983, when he competed for the Welsh constituency of Delyn and the mandate secured well before the candidate of the Labour Party and defended it at the next elections in 1987. For the general election in 1992 Raffan not approached. As a result, he left the Conservative Party and the Liberal Democrats joined them. The exact date of the party entry are different statements, which range from 1992 to 1997.

Scottish Parliament

In the Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 Raffan was the first candidate on the regional list for Mid Scotland and Fife electoral region and moved as a result of the election results in the newly created Scottish Parliament. In the following 2003 parliamentary elections Raffan was again the only mandate of the Liberal Democrats in the region Mid Scotland and Fife. The end of 2004 Raffan fell due to high travel costs in the criticism and gave his mandate back to the beginning of 2005 for health reasons. His successor was Andrew Arbuckle.
