Andrew Rannells

Andrew Scott Rannells ( born August 23, 1978 in Omaha, Nebraska) is an American actor and singer.

Life and career

Andrew Rannells attended Creighton Preparatory School in Omaha. After his graduation, he studied briefly at Marymount Manhattan College. He's Polish and Irish ancestors.

Rannells began his career as a voice actor. In 2006, he starred in the musical Hairspray. He was also a singer in the musical Jersey Boys. His most famous musical The Book of Mormon, however, in which he embodied the Elder Price. The musical was written by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and the composer Robert Lopez. He was nominated for a Tony Award for his local performance. He left the theater in June 2012.

On television Rannells was seen in the movie The Wedding of our thickest girlfriend as a stripper. Since 2012, he is seen in the recurring role of Elijah Krantz in the award winning series Girls. From 2012 to 2013 he played in The New Normal a gay man who wants to be a father with his partner, played by Justin Bartha, with the help of a surrogate mother.

Rannells is openly homosexual. Currently he lives in the East Village.
