Angel and the Ape

Angel and the Ape (German Angel and the monkey, abbreviated AATA ) is the title of several humorous comic series, which published the U.S. publisher DC Comics 1968-2001.

Action

The series is about the attractive private detective Angel O'Day, which operates a reasonably functioning law firm ( " O'Day and Simeon "). O'Day's partner Sam Simeon, a giant gorilla who is able, as a man to behave like a human being to talk, gesticulate and even has a human- like intelligence, and makes use of human-like ways of thinking. Together, loosen the two different cases ludicrous. His identity is hidden gorilla Sam, who comes from the city, in the African jungle city Gorilla City, which is exclusively inhabited by intelligent apes, with special telepathic powers at his disposal and enabling him people pretend that he looks like a normal man.

The name Sam Simeon is innuendo loaded in a double sense. The first name of the forensic talented monkey alludes to the fictional private detective Sam Spade, the hero of a series of crime novels written by Dashiell Hammett, which were filmed in part, with Humphrey Bogart in the lead role. The last name Simeon is in turn a tribute to the Belgian Georges Simenon, one of the most successful crime writers of the 20th century. The name Simeon is also seen as a pun because it sounds similar to Americans like the English adjective simian, which means " ape " or " monkey on ".
