Ángela Gurría

Ángela Gurría ( born March 24, 1929 in Mexico City) is a Mexican sculptor. It was recorded in 1973 as the first female member of the Academia de Artes.

Life

Gurría studied Spanish Humanities at the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México ( UNAM).

The art of sculptural design to be brought from 1949 autodidact when, later, she was a student of Germán Cueto and Abraham González and attended the training workshops by Mario Zamora and Montiel Blancas. Her work includes monumental sculptures, such as the towers of the workers monument " Monumento a los Trabajadores del Drenaje Profundo " in Tenayuca. Among the most representative works are probably among the " Homenaje a la ceiba " (Eng.: Homage to the Coral Bean ) from 1977, " Espiral Serfin " from 1980 and " El corazón de mágico Cutzamala " (Eng.: The Magical Heart of Cutzamala ) of in 1987.
