Angela Smith, Baroness Smith of Basildon

Angela Evans Smith, Baroness Smith of Basildon ( born January 7, 1959) is a British politician. Angela Smith is a member of the Co-operative Party, which is connected to the Labour Party and its politicians may be described as Labour Cooperative Party.

Education and professional experience before entering politics

Angela Evans studied at Leicester Polytechnic (now De Montfort University) Public Administration with a Bachelor's degree. From 1981 to 1983 she was an accountant teaching in the management of the London Borough of Newham. From 1983 to 1995 she worked in the press department of the League Against Cruel Sports a British animal welfare organization. Angela Evans worked from 1995 to 1997 as a research assistant for the House of Representatives Alun Michael.

Political career

From 1989 to 1997 she was a Member of the County Council of Essex. In the 1997 parliamentary elections as a candidate Angela Smith joined the Labour Party in the constituency of Basildon and won it. It was the parlamentary Private Secretary Paul Boateng, who was then Secretary of State at the Home Office in 1999. Angela Smith gave this function in 2002 when she became the parlamentary Under- Secretary of State for Nordirdland, a position which she held until 2005. From 2006 to 2007 she was, which is subordinated to the Deputy Prime Minister in the Cabinet Office in the Department for Communities and Local Government, works. She was then to parlamentary Private Secretary to the Prime Minister Gordon Brown and was allowed in this position, which she held until a cabinet reshuffle in June 2009, to attend cabinet meetings. In the Dissolution Honours List 2010, she was appointed Life Peer and was introduced in the House of Lords as Baroness Smith of Basildon, Basildon in the County of Essex on the 8th of July 2010.
