Anja Knippel

Anja Knippel ( born August 19, 1974 in Schmalkalden ) is a former German track and field athlete. She has received during her career three international medals as the fifth runner of the 4 x 400 - meter relay after they had been used in the flow.

Knippel joined in 1996 by Schmalkalden to Erfurt and launched throughout their career for Erfurt athletics clubs. In the 400 -meter run in 1998, she was third at the German Championships, in the hall, it was 1998 runner-up behind Grit Breuer and 1997 and 1997 respectively third parties. From 2002 Knippel started mostly in the 800 -meter run. In the hall, she was third in 2002 and won the 2003 German championship, outdoors, she took both 2002 and 2003 to third place and won the title in 2004.

Your first major international assignment had Knippel at the World Indoor Championships 1997 in Paris-Bercy. She ran as first leg of the 4 x 400 - meter relay and reached together with Anke Feller, Heike Meissner and Anja Rücker the final. In the final, Anja Rücker ran to the starting position and Grit Breuer was added anchor leg. After the season won bronze behind the seasons from Russia and the USA, Anja Knippel received a bronze medal. Knippel approached in the flow also at the European Championships in 1998 in Budapest. Together with Anke Feller, Martina and Silvia Breu Rieger themselves qualified the squadron for the final. There Anke Feller, Uta Rohländer, Silvia Rieger and Grit Breuer won the title, the two runners used in the flow Breu and Knippel also received a gold medal. At the World Indoor Championships in Maebashi in 1999 there were no prelims for the season. The German squadron with Anja Knippel, Anja Rücker, Ulrike Urbansky and Grit Breuer took fourth place in the finals behind Russia, Australia and the USA. In the summer of 1999 at the World Championships in Seville, the season in advance with Anke Feller, Uta Rohländer, Anja Anja Rücker Knippel and qualified for the final. In the final, ran again Grit Breuer for Anja Knippel, the squadron won bronze and Anja Knippel received the bronze medal at the awards ceremony presented.
