Ann Cole

Ann Cole ( born January 29, 1934 in Newark as Cynthia Coleman, † November 1986 ibid ) was an American R & B and gospel singer. She sang first of the classic Blue Got My Mojo Working, which is mainly known in the version of Muddy Waters.

Biography

Cynthia Coleman was born on January 29, 1934 in Newark, some sources mention 24 January 1934. Their father Wallace and his brothers formed the gospel - singing group "The Coleman Brothers". In 1949, Cynthia her own singing group "The Colemanairies ", which included Joe Walker, Sam Walker and Wesley Johnson. They performed across the U.S. and published in 1953-54 some Gospel plates.

In 1954, she used the first time the pseudonym Ann Cole. She performed in bars in New York and New Jersey, where one day Sol Rabinowitz became aware of them. He won for his record label, Baton Records, on which she had a few minor hits in 1956-57.

In 1956, she was with Muddy Waters on tour. During their performances, it claimed the title Got My Mo - Jo Working, Preston Foster had written. In January 1957 she took on the piece for Baton Records. Muddy Waters had now recorded their own version of the song for Chess Records, where he was known also as a songwriter.
