Ann Peebles

Ann Peebles (born 27 April 1947, St. Louis, Missouri) is an American soul singer and songwriter. She was the most successful female star of the record label Hi Records. Her most famous songs is one I Can not Stand the Rain, 1973, in the disco version of the band eruption in 1978 was a pop hit.

Biography

The daughter of a pastor and a singer singing at an early age in the church choir and in the family gospel choir, the " Peebles Choir ," which her ​​grandfather had founded. As a teenager she sang in clubs of her hometown, where she was eventually discovered by Oliver Sain and committed to his R & B revue. At a gig in Memphis her a contract with the label Hi Records was offered in 1968.
