Anna Sui

Anna Sui (* August 4, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American fashion designer.

Life

Anna Sui was born in 1955 in Detroit as the daughter of Chinese immigrants. From a young age she became interested in fashion design and gathered photo spreads in fashion magazines that she uses to this day as a source of inspiration. After her high school graduation she moved to New York and trained at the prestigious Parsons School of Design. There she met the current Vogue photographer Steven Meisel know, for she worked as a stylist after she initially worked for small sports apparel manufacturer and 1980 before they became self-employed.

In 1991 she had her first as a designer fashion show, in which the good friend of her supermodel Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell on the catwalk showcased their fashion and thus helped her to notoriety in the New York fashion scene. She then moved her studio from her apartment in its present quarters in the Garment District. Your first boutique she opened in 1992 at the 113 Greene Street in SoHo. In the same year she received the Young Investigator Award at the CFDA Fashion Awards at the age of 37 years. In 1997, she opened a boutique in Tokyo in 1999 and another on Sunset Plaza in Los Angeles.

In 1999, she released her first perfume Anna Sui as well as their first line of cosmetics on the market. More woman scents such as Dreams (2000), Sui Love (2002 ), Sui Dolly Girl (2003), Ooh la Love (2004) and Secret Wish (2005) followed. Their clients include Nicole Kidman, Drew Barrymore, Sofia Coppola, Cher and Madonna.
