Annie Finch

Annie Finch ( born October 31, 1956 in New Rochelle / New York) is an American poet, translator, librettist, editor and literary critic.

Finch studied at Yale University, earned a master's degree in creative writing at the University of Houston and a doctorate at Stanford University. She runs the Stone Cast creative writing program at the University of Southern Maine.

In addition to essays and literary theoretical writings Finch has published several books of poems and long poems. From their works, excited dance and music events at the Lawrence Conservatory, the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art found at the Spoleto Festival, held. They also wrote the libretti for the operas Lily Among the Goddesses and Marina, which were composed by Deborah Drattell. It was, inter alia, awarded scholarships from the Black Earth Institute and the Wesleyan Writers Conference and was awarded the 2009 Robert Fitzgerald Award. The book of poetry Calendars came in 2010 in the shortlist for the Foreword Poetry Book of the Year Award.
