Antaeus (Band)
Antaeus is a black metal band which was founded in 1993 in France. The slogan of the band reads: " Anti God, Anti Music, Anti You".
Band History
The band was founded in 1994 by Black Priest, Storm and Antaeus. In 1995 and 1996 two demos were recorded, during this time there were some changes in the cast. The two current members, and MkM set, came in 1996 and 1998 to the band.
Their first album, Cut Your Flesh and Worship Satan contained newly recorded songs of the demo recordings. For the second album De principii Evangelikum the band signed to Osmose Productions. The third album Blood Libels was again released from the label Norma Gospel Diaboli.
In 2006 toured Antaeus and the German band Secrets of the Moon together, concluded the 2008 Antaeus former bassist LSK to Secrets of the Moon at.
Of the band founders is now no longer active in the band.
Style and texts
In the first two demos, the band played more atmospheric Black Metal with keyboards and acoustic guitar. Later they changed their style to raw, dissonant and chaotic Black Metal with Death Metal influences. Blood Libels was referred to as "aggressive black metal with a pinch (or ten ) of death metal thrown in ". The album ends with the nine -minute title song Blood Libels, which was " so intense it's almost unbearable literally " called.
The band describes their own music as " Satanik Audio Violence" and are on their MySpace page as influences "black death metal acts from the late 80s early 90s" to.
According MkM Black Metal must be hateful and satanic, darkness and everything that causes pain homage. Accordingly, the texts death and suffering among others combine in the form of self-injurious behavior with Satanism.
