Antoine Kambanda

Antoine Kambanda ( born November 10, 1958) is a Roman Catholic priest and Bishop of Kibungo.

Life

Antoine Kambanda was born on 10 November 1958 in Rwanda, but moved shortly after his birth his family moved to Kenya, where he attended elementary and middle school. Later he returned to his home, where he attended the Great Propaedeutic Seminar in Rutongo, Kigali (1983 /84) and the Major Seminary of St. Charles in Nyakibanda in Butare (1984 /90).

On September 8, 1990, he was ordained in Mbare ( Kabgayi ) by Pope John Paul II for priests. After that, he was prefect of studies (1990/ 93) of the Minor Seminary of St. Vincent in Ndera ( Kigali ). He attended the Accademia Alfonsiana in Rome (1993 /99), where he received his doctorate in moral theology. From 1999 to 2005 he was director of the diocesan office of Caritas in Kigali, Head of the Development Committee of the Diocese, head of the " Justitia et Pax " Commission of the diocese, a professor of moral theology at the major seminary in and Visitor Nyakibanda.

On 6 September 2005, he was named Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Rector of the Great Inter-diocesan Seminary in philosophical Kabgayi.

Pope Francis appointed Kambanda 7 May 2013 to the Bishop of Kibungo. The Archbishop of Kigali gave him on 20 July of the same year the episcopal ordination. Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Kabgayi, emeralds Mbonyintege, and the Bishop of Butare, Philippe Rukamba.
