Roman Catholic Diocese of Kabgayi

The diocese of Kabgayi (Latin: Dioecesis Kabgayensis ) is a location in Rwanda Roman Catholic diocese based in Kabgayi. It includes the districts Kamonyi, Muhanga and Ruhango the Southern Province.

History

Pope Pius XI. founded the Apostolic Vicariate of Rwanda on April 25, 1922 from annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Kivu. On 14 February 1952, adopted the name, Apostolic Vicariate Kabgayi on.

With the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum it was collected on 10 November 1959 in the rank of Metropolitanerzbistums. On April 10, 1976, it was downgraded to a suffragan.
