Antoni Stychel

Anton Stychel, Polish: Antoni Stychel, ( born June 13, 1859 in Dlusk; † January 13, 1935 in Poznań ) was a Catholic priest and member of the German Reichstag.

Life

Stychel was the son of a magistrate, the Marie attended high school at Posen and studied in Berlin, at the University of Würzburg and at the seminary to Gniezno. In 1889 he was ordained a priest and was then first Mansionar ad St. Mariam Magdalena poses. Then he was preacher and Penitentiary at the Cathedral to Poznan, since 1896 prelate and provost of the collegiate and parish church of St. Mariam Magdalena ad to Poznan. Furthermore, he was president of the Diocesan Catholic workers' associations in the diocese of Gniezno - Poznan.

He was one of the pioneers of the Catholic social movement in Poland. From 1899 to 1913 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives and from 1904 to 1918 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the electoral district of Poznań 5 ( Kröben ) and the Polish faction.

After the First World War he was a member of the Polish Committee for the Defence of Upper Silesia and from 1919 to 1922 Member of the Sejm. Between 1922 and 1928 he was Deputy Speaker of the Senate. In 1928 he resigned because of the exclusion of religious candidates from the election from active politics.
