Antonio Cagnoni

Antonio Cagnoni ( born February 8, 1828 in Godiasco, (Province of Pavia), † April 30, 1896 in Bergamo ) was an Italian opera composer of the 19th century.

Antonio Cagnoni studied with Felice Moretti (1791-1863), also called " Padre Davide da Bergamo " called in Voghera, and from 1842 to 1847 at the Milan Conservatory.

His most important works include the operas Don Bucefalo (1847 ), Claudia, Giralda, Michele Perrin, Il capriccio di donna and Papà Martin. Cagnonis 1895 finished opera, Re Lear was no longer listed at the composer's lifetime because of his death in 1896. The first performance of the four-act work was given in 2009 at the "Festival della Valle d' Itria " in Martina Franca instead. Also worked with Cagnoni in Giuseppe Verdi's Messa per Rossini excited to death and Rossini composed this Quid sum miser. His most important religious work is his Requiem, 1888.
