António Sousa

António Augusto Gomes de Sousa ( born April 28, 1957 in São João da Madeira ) is a former Portuguese football player and football coach.

Career

Antonio Sousa began his career at FC Porto. In his first time in Porto in 1984, he could win the Portuguese Cup. He was appointed to his first time with FC for the European Football Championship 1984 in France. He was four times and used to score a goal. Portugal came into the semi-finals.

In 1984 he moved to the capital to Sporting Lisbon. In the time in Lisbon, the appeal falls within the squad the Portuguese for the Football World Cup 1986 in Mexico, where Portugal was eliminated in the group stage. Sousa was used three times.

In the year of the World Cup Antonio Sousa returned to Porto back to FC and remained three years. There he could win his first Portuguese league title. Furthermore, a Cup success could still be celebrated. During this time also fall his biggest international successes. He won the 1987 European Super Cup, World Cup and the European Cup of Champions. In the final against Bayern Munich, he was not used.

In 1989 he moved to SC Beira- Mar, where he was under contract four years.

Then he let his career still end with Gil Vicente FC and Ovarense to 1995.

After playing career

After the Player Career Antonio Sousa took the coaching job at the club unterklassigen Sanjoanense. In 1997 he came to SC Beira- Mar, where he then as a coach won the Portuguese Cup in 1999. In the season 2005/2006 Sousa coached Rio Ave FC since 2007 he has been head coach of FC Penafiel.
