Ar-Raqqah Governorate
Ar - Raqqa (Arabic الرقة ) is a province in northern Syria with an area of 19,616 km ² and around 760,000 inhabitants ( 2006).
Al-Raqqa is bordered on the north by Turkey, to the west by the province of Aleppo, on the east by the al-Hasakah Governorate and to the south by the province of Deir ez- Zor.
Capital and largest city is the city of al-Raqqa. Other cities are at- Tawra and Tell Abyad.
The agriculture consists mainly of cotton cultivation along the Euphrates. The population is predominantly made up of Arabs together, much of which are Bedouins. In the north of the province along the border with Turkey and Kurds live in their villages.
