Aračinovo

Aračinovo ( Macedonian Арачиново; Albanian Haraçina or Haraçinë ) is a village and seat of the municipality, which covers not only the main town or the villages Grusino, Mojanci and Orlanci. The village is situated in the north of Macedonia, only about two kilometers northeast of the capital Skopje.

Geography

Aračinovo is on a slope between 225-360 m above sea level. Through the settlement area flow a few small streams that originate in the northern hill country. To the east, south and west of the village close to many fields for agricultural development.

Neighboring villages in the north Mojanci, northeast Orlanci, in the southeast Ajvatovci, in the Ilinden south, the southwest is the municipal area of ​​the capital and to the northwest Brnjarci.

History

Aračinovo was one of the centers of the Albanian uprising in Macedonia in 2001. Ethnic Albanian guerrillas controlled a long time the city and fought with the Macedonian army in fights.

Economy
